In December 2025, Claude had 2.2% of global chatbot web traffic. By May 2026: 9.2%, 952 million monthly visits, 855% year-over-year growth — fastest of any major AI assistant. ChatGPT is still six times bigger.

ChatGPT holds 53.9% of the market on roughly 5.6 billion monthly visits. Gemini is at 27.9%, up ~450% YoY off Google’s distribution. The whole market grew about 49% year over year. Claude grew seventeen times faster than that and is still ranked third.

The subplot worth watching: Gartner predicts 40% of enterprise apps will embed task-specific AI agents by end of 2026, up from less than 5% last year. The chatbot traffic scoreboard measures people opening a browser tab. Agents don’t open browser tabs.

MarketsandMarkets pegs the agent market at $52.6B by 2030 (46.3% CAGR). Microsoft, Salesforce, and SAP are already shipping agentic capabilities into their platforms. The fight for enterprise isn’t about chatbot traffic — it’s about who’s embedded deep enough in the workflow that switching never comes up.

Claude’s 855% is the best number on the scoreboard. The scoreboard itself has a shelf life.
